Prayer at the Dining Table

Last night my wife and I sat down at 5 pm on Saturday with two of our children and completed the “Dining Room Prayer Activity” for the week. The kids were very motivated to do this. Setting up the sacred space themselves. Leading sometimes. Reading the Sunday’s Gospel. Colouring in the activity sheet, by even the adults, brought us together. I must admit the kids struggled to answer the simple questions like “What is a sower?” And I found my wife and often I filling in the blanks. However, I sensed a deep joy in the kids as they did this. It allowed us to participate and connect as a family. By the end it affirmed my belief that “parents are critical for the faith of the children”. School and 1 hour mass on Sunday is not enough. It takes something at the core of the family.
