Preparations Dinner and Meeting

22 December 2016

On Thursday evening a group of lay Marists and ex students of Marist Sisters Woolwich met together for preparation for a Davao immersion in January. The group comprised of four lay Marists, two ex students of Marist Sisters Woolwich and one young adult from St Patrick’s Church Hill. Over dinner we ate fried rice, beetroot and cuscus salad, pasta, and chocolate slice cake.

The meeting started with prayer. The prayer focused on the day’s Gospel, which just so happened to be Mary’s Magificat (Luke 1:46-56). The participants shared what they were feeling. Including the stress of the Christmas rush, excitement, happiness, anxiety, and joy. The conversation soon got into full flight. With laughter and sharing focusing on many subjects.

We spoke about the logistics of the immersion. Including the itinerary where we will visit the Marist Orphanage Balay Pasilungan, a preschool for refugees, Marist mothers group, Marist Laity in the Philippines and other Marist communities (both lay and religious).

We spoke about what we needed to bring. Another lay group, Bexley Marist Laity, created some beautifully hand crafted baby and children clothing. These we would soon travel with us. Thank you Bexley for your many efforts…

Please pray for us between January 4th and January 15th.

The night ended with a Christmas buzz and an anticipation over what was about to occur….
