I want to see small communities forming. People who commit themselves to Mary's way of being ordinary, being present, being family and being centred on God.
These communities could be parish based. But I think they need to cross over parishes as often young people do not associate themselves to 1 parish, but rather a region. For example - I live in the North West of Sydney as opposed to I live in the South West of Sydney. Thus people need to brought together so that their spirits may be formed.
There needs to be a more formal presence of Marist laity. Why? because our religious brothers and sisters are declining in our country. Laity must provide more obvious avenues to access points of the spirit.
These communities need to parrallel in their lives
- pray together
- socialise together
The difference between a parish family group and a Marist Laity group needs to be clear
- Mary's way to God.
- the groups must always include those on the outside.
- the group must seek to serve the poor.
- the group must always immerse themselves in global communities
- the group must always seek God's relationship and other people relationship
In the end, these groups take time and energy. The question is set - not if, or what but when? God is waiting.
