Marist Sisters - Reconfiguration for Life and Mission

Sr Monica OBrien and the General Council and the leaders of all current administrative units For some time the Marist Sisters have been considering re-organising the administration of the Congregation in order to better serve the life and mission of the Congregation. In January 2005 Sr Monica O'Brien, the Congregation leader, her General Council and all the current leaders of Administrative Units met in Mexico. There, after consideration and prayer about our present reality, it was decided to reconfigure the Congregation by dividing it into three administrative Regions:-

Region of Asia-Pacific: Aotearoa-New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the Philippines

Region of Atlantica: Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, USA and Venezuela

Region of Eur-Africa: England, Germany, France, Italy, Ukraine and West Africa
Each Region will have a Regional Leader who will be supported by two Regional Councillors. There will also be a Sector Leader and Assistant in each country.

After consulting the Sisters of each Region Sr Monica has named the Sisters who will form the Regional leadership Teams. These Sisters recently attended a programme in Rome to prepare them for their new roles. The elections for Sector Leaders and Assistants are currently taking place in each Unit. Our new governance structure will begin on 2nd February 2006 and we ask the support of your prayers for this significant administrative change in our Congregation.
