As we begin our new Liturgical Year with the season of Advent we may look back on 2007 as a year of many mixed emotions.

Bringing the Conference to Birth

Throughout 2007, our National Committee has been doing a lot! With the help and support of some wonderful people, we aim to bring this first Australian Lay Marist Conference to birth.

Icons and Iconographers

The ACU National Gallery, Strathfield hosted an exhibition of six contemporary Australian painters in the Orthodox icon tradition. The artists were: Michael Galovic ,Antonina Ganin, Dimitri Lihachov, Very Rev. Alexi Rosentul, Christina and Dimitri Sladescu

St. Pat's Report

On Friday, 16 November, the St Pat’s lay Marist group held their final meeting for the year. Jina Mulligan, who leads the group, has taken a creative, contemplative approach.

Marist Sisters Celebrate

On the 29th December the Marist Sisters will mark the centenary of the Sisters’ arrival to make a foundation in Australia. On that day 1907 Sisters Melanie, Cyrille and Odilon arrived at Villa Maria Hunters Hill and were welcomed by Marist Fathers and Marist Missionary Sisters (Missionary Sisters of the Third Order Regular as they were known at that time)

Marist Fathers

The Marist Fathers Australian Province, led by Fr Paul Cooney SM, hosted a meeting of thirty Major Superiors of the Marist Fathers from all over the world. From the 9-15 November, in the inspiring surrounds of the Mary McKillop Conference Centre in North Sydney, these leaders looked at four main issues

Reflection Day

November 24, 2007....... a day of election and, for about 25 Marists drawn from all the branches of our family, a Day of Reflection.

Women for Women in Africa Foundation

“We cannot solve all the problems of Africa but we can make a difference to the lives of some of the people living in Kibera. In doing so we may also make a difference to our own lives”.
