Marist Family International Year of Prayer 2008/9by Maria Baden
The inspiration for this international Marist year of prayer, came from two New Zealand Tongan delegates who attended the Conference, hosted by Marist Laity Australia, held in Sydney in April 2008. They presented three wishes: + that a theme be chosen to unite Marists globally + that this theme be launched on the Holy Name of Mary —12 September + that the theme be a focus for a year of prayer and action We took up this call and invited Marists worldwide to join us in praying to Mary bearer of Hope to the World—our theme for the year. In a world which appears to have lost meaning and purpose, characterized by cynicism, divisions, violence and despair, HOPE is calling with Mary’s voice
“I was the support of the church at its birth. I shall be so again at the end of time.”
From its beginnings the Marist lay branch (Third Order) acclaimed Our Lady of Hope or Mary Mother of Hope as its patron. Let us in the year ahead be bearers of hope to our world, giving flesh to the Word as Mary did. Would your group be prepared to host 12 Sept 2009/10???

Mary, Bearer of Hope to the World I desire with all my heart to live my life in the spirit of Mary, a spirit of love, simplicity, hiddenness and prayer..
Like Mary, may I bring hope to the world, especially among those most yearning for hope....
(add intentions).
Woman, pregnant with Hope listen to my prayer. Fill me with your tender and deep love for Jesus.
Mary, Bearer of Hope to the World, Pray for us.
