Fourviere - July 2008Because of WYD, our normal Fourviere celebrations did not take place this year. However, at Villa Maria, Hunters Hill, we did have a rather unusual 23 July event. Following WYD, the Marist Fathers joined with YPD (Young People for Development) from July 22-24. The programme was called READY FOR ACTION, three days of leadership, teamwork and management training for young adult leaders. On the Wednesday evening, lay Marists prepared a BBQ for some 120 young people. It was a great Ozzie sausage sizzle with plenty of bread, tomato sauce, onions fresh fruit, lollies and chip. There were two big groups from France and Germany. The rest came from the Asia –Pacific region. Despite the cold weather and the threat of rain, the warmth of friendship and the knowledge that this would all soon end kept us all in communion. The evening ended joyously with great entertainment from all over the world.
