Meetings

Last year there were a number of important meetings of laity around the Society. There was the international meeting held in April of 2005 in Auckland, New Zealand. One held in Canada in August as well as in Chicago in October for the North American Lay Marists.

There were also two significant meetings held last year for the Marist Fathers Lay coordinators. One was in Canada after the lay Marist meeting in August in which the four representatives of North America met to share developments in their own area and looked at available resources for the lay branch.

The second significant meeting was the meeting of Marist Fathers co-ordinators for Marist Laity in Europe. This was held in La Neyliere in October 2005. The coordinators shared their concerns, resources and issues they have been dealing with in their work with Marist lay groups in their respective countries. One outcome of their meeting is that they are looking at the possibility of calling for a meeting of Marist laity of Europe in the next year or two.
