TITLE: Marist Laity Australia - Simplicity, Flexibility, Inclusiveness

Mary and Son

Alice Farrell

My first contact with the Marist family was as a small child of aboutAlice Farrell seven when I began school at Marist College Woolwich. The Sisters in their airforce blue habits made a surprising and pleasant impression on me as I had only every seen nuns in black and white habits before. All I could think of was Our Lady wore blue so the Sisters must be something special. This was the beginning of my love for anything Marist.

My years at boarding school were very happy ones and there I learnt that Mary was my mother and I felt as though she replaced the mother I had lost as a very young girl of four years. I still confide all my worries and happiness to her.

Joining the Marist Laity, here in Bexley, probably confirms my love and trust in our Mother who helps us to try and be better in our every day lives and in some way to follow in her footsteps.
