Mary and Son

TITLE: Profiles

Sr Gail Reneker, sm
Sr Gail Reneker, sm I was born in Sydney and have lived most of my life here except for some years living in rural NSW as a child. I am now living in our Marist Sisters community in Sefton.

I joined the Marist Sisters in 1967 and since then I have lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Rome. My principal ministries have been in secondary education, formation of novices and in congregational administration including time as Provincial of Australia and Congregational Leader in Rome.

My seven years in Rome afforded me the opportunity to visit our sisters in countries where they minister. So I have been fortunate and feel blessed to have visited a number of countries in Europe, in the Americas and in Africa as well as in the Asia/Pacific Region.

Since returning to Australia four years ago I have been mainly engaged in ministry within the Congregation as well as studying for a degree at the Catholic Institute of Sydney at Strathfield. I am finishing this degree with a two year part time program in Spiritual Direction. Currently, I continue to have some responsibility in Congregational Administration, but I also have a two day a week ministry at the House of Welcome in Carramar which operates under the auspices of the NSW Ecumenical Centre and provides service for refugees. Over the year I have had some association with Marist Lay groups and I am currently the Marist Sisters liaison person with Marist Laity Australia.
