Joan McBride's sm Joan McBride, s.m. has been a professed member of the Marist Sisters Congregation for the past fifty-five years. She was born in Katoomba, New South Wales, and educated by the Marist Sisters. After profession she taught for sixteen years at Marist College, Woolwich, thirteen years at Cerdon College, Merrylands, one year in Fiji at Cawaci, (something of a failed missionary) and eight years in Mackay, Queensland. She has written a History of the Marist Sisters in Fiji and the recently printed When we are weak, then we are strong. A history of the Marist Sisters in Australia 1907-1984. When she finished teaching at the end of 1990 she studied to be an archivist and then set up various archives in Australia, Rome, Fiji and U.S.A. She is presently the archivist for the Marist Sisters, Sector of Australia. |
