TITLE: Marist Laity Australia - Simplicity, Flexibility, Inclusiveness

Mary and Son

VII. Annunciation

Preparation
1. Praise of the Father.
2. Hail Mary.

Text: Luke 1:26-38.

Setting: Fr. Jean-Claude Colin, who was among the first group of Marists, described a curious way of thinking and acting. He said, 'I place myself in the home of Nazareth and from there I see all that I have to do'.

Grace: Ask God for a deeper understanding of Mary's faith, so that you might choose her as your model and guide in following Jesus.

Reflection: Listen to Mary retell the story of the Annunciation in her own words, especially:
1. Her amazement at the angel's message.
2. The great desire that she felt stirring within her at that moment to say YES to God, not only with her lips or her head, but with her heart, her whole being, her whole life, though she knew not what it would cost her.
3. Her feeling now, after 30 years, that her whole life is summed up in that YES that she uttered long ago.

Conversation: Share with Mary your own deepest desires, how you would like to serve God with humility and simplicity and great vigor, and what God seems to be asking of you.

Journal: Record your reflections, and anything you have learned or felt, in your journal or notebook. Do this for each meditation.
