XV. Mary's Beatitude
Preparation 1. Praise of the Father.
2. Hail Mary.
Text: Luke 11:27-28.
Setting: Fr. Jean-Claude Colin, who was among the first group of Marists, described a curious way of thinking and acting. He said, 'I place myself in the home of Nazareth and from there I see all that I have to do'.
Grace: Ask God for a deeper understanding of Mary's faith, so that you might choose her as your model and guide in following Jesus.
Reflection: Imagine that before visiting Mary at Nazareth, you had been present when the woman called out and Jesus answered her. Tell Mary about it, ask her what it means to her, and listen as, she answers you, especially: 1. The great joy it was for her to carry Jesus within her, to nurse him, to raise him to manhood.
2. But how it has been an even greater joy for her to hear the Good News of the coming of God's kingdom that Jesus is proclaiming.
3. How her closeness to Jesus when bearing and nursing him was as nothing compared to the unity of mind and heart that she now experiences as she listens to his words, his deepest convictions, and takes them to heart.
Conversation: Share with Mary moments of joy and of closeness to Jesus that you have experienced when hearing his words or pondering them. Also share with her' what closeness you have felt to Mary during these many conversations with her at Nazareth, what a joy it has been to ponder God's words and actions with her.
Journal: Record your reflections, and anything you have learned or felt, in your journal or notebook. Do this for each meditation. | |
