   - NAIDOC event

   - on July 10

This is just an update on the Baabayn NAIDOC event on July 10 and a reminder of the important on-site meeting at Whalan Reserve on Friday July 4 at 11am. This is your opportunity to meet all the organisations, volunteers and stall holders, and perhaps some of the cultural performers.

The attachment to this email is an Invitation to July 4 meeting with directions on how to get to the site. It is important for you to have a representative at this meeting if at all possible. You will find out about parking, and locations of stalls, rides, petting zoo etc. We understand that some of the volunteers may not be able to attend and that is fine. We will do our best to keep you informed.

Please note that no vehicles are permitted on the sports fields. Stall holders will need to provide a trolley to transport gear from their vehicle to the stall location.

The attachment provides a general map of the area, with directions. As we are still finalising the detailed stall positions, we will have this available later and we will email it to you. Please keep your stall in the space we allocate on that day. We will also be sending you the run sheet for the day, when finalised.

Just a couple of helpful suggestions that you may be able to pass on to your people:

There will be water stations on-site (thanks to Sydney water), so it would be helpful if we could spread the word for people to bring their own re-fillable bottles. There may be a limited supply of bottled water available, donated by SRAC (thanks!)

Another suggestion is for the attendees to bring a picnic blanket for seating as we won’t be able to provide seating for the large numbers we anticipate. Blacktown Council has regulations about protecting the sports ovals of the park. So camp chairs should not be used on these areas.

Also, a very important point to emphasize with all attendees is that our NAIDOC event is a Drug and Alcohol free event.

So please spread the word with these suggestions.

Apart from that, we are pleased to report that thanks to the generous support of many of you, the event will proceed on 10 July as planned, with all the activities that we had originally planned. A huge thank you to all those who have contributed in different ways to the event.

We are hoping to see you on 4 July but in the meantime if you have any additional questions, please contact Lawrie in the first instance.

Kind regarding thank you for your support.
