The Chosen

   - The Last Supper

In the climactic moments of Season 5, The Chosen brings Jesus and His disciples to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. As tension with the religious leaders grows and the shadow of betrayal looms, Jesus gathers with His closest followers for what will become known as the Last Supper. Set in an upper room, the atmosphere is both intimate and heavy with unspoken emotion. Jesus washes the feet of each disciple, a radical act of humility that sets the tone for what is to come. He then blesses the bread and wine, offering them as His body and blood—instituting the Eucharist and revealing the depth of His self-giving love.

During the meal, Jesus predicts His betrayal, causing shock and sorrow among the disciples. The moment Judas Iscariot departs into the night is filled with quiet dread, signaling the start of Jesus’ final hours. The dialogue is deeply human—filled with confusion, devotion, and raw vulnerability—as each disciple grapples with the weight of Jesus’ words. Peter, ever passionate, promises to stay loyal, while others begin to sense that something momentous is about to unfold. Through the breaking of bread and sharing of the cup, Jesus prepares His friends for the suffering that lies ahead, and plants the seeds of hope in the promise of resurrection.

The episode concludes with Jesus leading the disciples out into the night toward the Garden of Gethsemane. As they walk through the darkness, the camera lingers on the empty cups and broken bread, symbols of the covenant now sealed in love. Though the road ahead is marked by suffering, the Last Supper scene becomes a sacred turning point—where divine love meets human frailty. It reminds viewers that Jesus chose to face death not with vengeance, but with peace, and invites all who watch to partake in that same love through remembrance and surrender.

Final Prayer

Lord Jesus, as we recall the Last Supper portrayed in The Chosen, we are moved by Your deep love, humility, and the sorrow You carried knowing what lay ahead. In that sacred upper room, You gave Yourself fully to Your disciples—offering bread as Your body and wine as Your blood, the ultimate gift of love. You invited them, and now us, into communion not just with You, but with one another. Help us to live with that same servant-hearted love, to remember Your sacrifice with gratitude, and to carry Your light into the world. May we never take Your presence for granted. Stay with us, Lord, as we walk the road You first walked for us. Amen.
