A longer Video - A lesson on forgiveness
Journal and reflect on the following
- Why does Peter struggle so deeply with the idea of forgiving Matthew, and how do his personal experiences shape his perspective on forgiveness?
- What does Jesus mean by '70 times 7,' and how does this concept challenge the human understanding of forgiveness?
- How does Peter’s admission that he is still the same flawed man highlight the tension between his new identity as Peter and his human limitations?
- How do I respond when someone repeatedly wrongs me, and what does this reveal about my capacity to forgive?
- Have I ever struggled to forgive someone, and how did that experience affect my relationships and inner peace?
- What does the idea of “endless forgiveness” mean to me, and how might it challenge my current approach to conflict and reconciliation?
- In what ways do I rely on my own understanding instead of seeking God’s guidance when faced with difficult situations, like forgiving others?
Song - How can this be?
Closing Prayer
Loving Father,
We come before You, aware of the stubbornness in our hearts. At times, our pride, ego, and sin keep us from seeking forgiveness or extending it to others. We confess that our short-sightedness blinds us to the freedom and peace that forgiveness brings. Lord, we struggle to let go of the hurt, to humble ourselves, and to trust in Your plan of reconciliation. But we know that You are a God of endless grace, always ready to soften our hearts and guide us back to Your truth. Break through our resistance, Lord. Help us to surrender our pride and embrace the healing power of forgiveness. Teach us to love as You love, even when it feels impossible. We pray this in the name of Jesus, who forgave even while on the cross. Amen.
