1. In Luke chapter 1, we see both Mary and Elizabeth respond with faith and joy to the news that they will each bear a child. Think about a time in your life when you received unexpected news or faced a difficult situation. How did you respond initially? How might you cultivate a deeper faith and trust in God in the midst of uncertainty?
2. Luke chapter 1 includes several songs of praise and thanksgiving, including Mary's Magnificat and Zechariah's Benedictus. What elements of these songs resonate with you? What might you want to praise God for in your own life or circumstances right now?
3. Elizabeth's response to Mary's arrival is a powerful reminder of the importance of community and support in times of joy and hardship. Who are the people in your life who have been a source of encouragement and support? How might you intentionally reach out to and support others in your own community?
4. The angel's message to Mary reminds us that God often uses ordinary, unexpected people to accomplish his purposes. What might God be calling you to do or be in your own context, even if it seems unconventional or unlikely?
